Independent. I vote for a candidate based on their position, not party.
Makes perfect logical sense to me. I don't understand why everyone doesn't do that. People should think of a president the same way they would think about hiring a contractor or an employee. They are getting voted in to do a job and it should be about who is best qualified.
Sadly I am pretty much fed up with Republicans and Democrats. I am leaning towards Libertarian candidates. I'll see how that goes.
Both of the major U.S. parties are tired, navel-gazing organizations long over-the-hill, who have turned to show biz tactics in order to look alive. I wouldn't want to wear the label of either one of them.
A major disappointment is that the only alternative parties with any energy are two fringe groups one in the tradition of the Know-Nothings and the other looking like too much like anarchists.
My political registration is unaffiliated. It also allows me to choose which party's primary I can vote in.
I vote for the person and what they stand for or against (or more frequently left with voting for the lesser of two evils) If I have no views on either candidate for an office, I don't vote for either.
younglisa7 asked why more people don't vote for the candidate vs. the blind party vote. The answer is simple, it takes effort and sadly too many people are too lazy or stupid to participate effectively in their government. Or worse, blindly vote for whomever the preacher man told them. But I guess I'm expecting more of people that have already demonstrated their inability or unwillingness to think for themselves and refuse to question what others tell them.
To which party do you most identify yourself with? Why?
The real question is why are you, a self-proclaimed Born-again, Spirit-filled Evangelical Christian, starting this poll in the atheists sub-forum?
