J.S. Bach composed a lot of sacred music, but I wonder how 'inspired' he was when he created it. To me his music is incredibly creative and ear pleasing, but strikes me as passionless in the religious or spiritual sense.

There you go! Two listeners. Two different views. Now when I hear Bach, wow I'm off to the spiritual 'races', well I guess that's how I 'interpret' his music on that score. Sometimes I find his music so sublime that I'm kind of glad he existed since he had the 'ear' to get it all down. I always thought he had to inhabit different vistas for a time moreso than the vast majority of humanity.
