Using the term very broadly, it is a reasonable option, but a forward planning, intelligent Creator is (on the evidence) not the more logical choice, never mind the only one.

Sadness has nothing to do with it. The fact that it doesn't make sense to the OP is that it's not logical (no creator/afterlife/etc.)
Here again ... you are confusing logic with understanding. "The OP doesn't understand" has nothing to do with the (il)logic of (un)belief. It just has to do with the OP not understanding. We have attempted to enlighten him, although his hit and run post makes me think he was just trolling anyway. He never came back to discuss this question he was supposedly here to discuss.

I understand you can't come up with an alternative to a creator, for the source of the universe/life.
An eternal substance out of which various universes appear, for one.

Of course we can:the appearance of "matter" as it is called. And, even if we couldn't think of any other options, it is not logical to assume that there can't be any.

That eternal matter is our creator. What else could it be?
We humans have always sought to know our origin. At this point, a creator is the logical answer.
We humans have always sought to know our origin. But it's okay if we don't know at present. Eventually we will. Even now we know quite a bit about it and have useful avenues of investigation to pursue.
You still haven't demonstrated that "logical" in this context means anything other than "what I want to believe". Which isn't logic at all. It is just credulous belief without a requirement of evidence. Also known as religious faith. Which isn't remotely based in logic, evidence, facts, science, etc.
Something is not logical because you declare it over and over to BE logical.
