You are sticking you fingers in your ears. You really believe that, without religion, an atheist can't connect with others and can't be aware?
I thought that I was clearly acknowledging that an atheist can do those things. But it's wrong for an atheist to say that everyone else should be like him and do things his way. I think people should be free to believe as they wish. It's called "freedom of religion". I'm beginning to suspect that many atheists are unfamiliar with the concept.
What else would YOU call a person who sees all religion as a threat, and doesn't believe in a god? I said that I was looking for a good term for it if you didn't like "extreme atheist". What does it take to ask a question here?
I suppose that I'm the sort of atheist you describe here. I'd love to know why you have a problem with that when, presumably, you don't have a problem with me being someone that is extremely anti-child pornography; extremely anti-ageist; extremely anti-slavery; extremely pro-equality; extremely pro-equal rights. I am 'extreme' in many things, as no doubt are you. Why is it only extreme atheists that you have a problem with.

. Is't that what Christianity has been doing for 2000 years?

If only Christianity thought that.

We are all familiar with it and if Christianity would only do what their god told them to do, we atheists could pack up, go home and concentrate on doing better things than fighting wilful ignorance and superstition.

You are unfamiliar with the concept of a "Secular society". It is to allow everyone to be themselves and not the have This or That religion - indeed atheism - telling everybody what they should be like. This has been explained to you, before, I'm sure. What w are seeing is someone so determined to find fault with atheism and atheists that they have to keep producing this strawman caricature of it and us, in order to back up this prejudice against as the enemies of religion.
Which I suppose we are, and the opposition of those sympathetic to religion is only to be expected. But recognising that's what it's all about and not to do with any of the prejudices you have would allow us to be able to have a sensible discussion about it.
I don't know why ya'll keep engaging with this "Ozzy rules in his own mind" person. Moderator cut: Edited
For the usual reasons. It's likely that he is fighting his own doubts as well as us, but all the time he does it here, he either makes good points which have to be addressed, or poor ones which can be easily shown up. And it's always the browsers we have to keep in mind.

"Secular society" is code for atheistic influence. A minority group wanting to control society. It seems like atheists try to slap a religious label on all things done in history that they happen to dislike. It's ridiculous, insane and horrible. Freedom of religion is obviously not enough. I don't know if that is their goal but if it is that's sick and they know it. If it's true then I thank God that atheists are a minority and that they don't have the power they desire.

Freedom of religion. It's clear that even some atheists don't like this concept. It sounded absurd to think at first, but now this is what I believe.
Not at all. But freedom of religion also implies freedom from religion.
