Can anyone give me their opinion on who to choose for electric service? We are moving from IL so I have no idea what to choose. I see Jackson EMC and Georgia Power as my two choices in Hoschton. In know Jackson EMC is a cooperative and has a fixed bill, but have no experience with anything like that. Are they competitive with each other for rates? How about service interruption and customer service?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been with Walton EMC (right next door!) for 12 years - and have no complaints whatsoever. As a co-op (member owned) they do occasionally send back 'refunds' which are always a pleasant suprise! This was my only choice of providers, so I can't really speak of Georgia Power.

I will say, however, check each one's rates over a period of a few years.

Do you know anyone that lives in the area that you're moving to, or that uses either of these providers? They might can shed some light as well.

Thanks so much for the input! We have friends in Winder that use Georgia Power. They didn't have anything bad to say. It looks like we'll be fine either way. Thanks!!
