Any thoughts as to what's causing this? I know there is a sketchy apartment complex off of Ormewood Ave (Trestle Tree Village) that has alot of issues and I would personally love to see it gone. Other thoughts?

From what I understand these same guys have also struck in VA-Hi. So, I imagine it's another outbreak of gang activity. It seems to me the city is pretty good at squashing this kind of thing as soon as it flares up. I doubt it's related to those apartments. The perps are probably from another part of town. I get this impression from the somewhat scattered way they're operating...very opportunistic as though they don't really know the area. But I could be wrong.

No, I think that you are correct, and it sounds like Mayor Reed and the APD agree as well.

This is very unusual for the area. We are used to break-ins but not Home Invasions. The police are now everywhere since these crimes have happened. For the past two days there have been traffic stops on Boulevard and believe some on Atlanta Avenue as well. The police always arrest of ton of people doing traffic stops.
From what I understand they found the three guys who raped that poor women during the Home Invasion on Boulevard.

Oy, this sounds awful. I'm looking at homes in the Grant Park/VA-HI area and now I'm really worried about crime. I've lived in cities my whole life and don't exactly live in Beverly Hills in LA, but I've never really heard of people getting shot getting out of their cars or during break-ins unless they were deep in the ghetto.

I live in the Grant Park area, and am very concerned about the recent chain of events. I am wondering if this is some sort of gang activity. The recent events are anomalies but terrifying just the same. I have lived in the city for the past 5 years and like living in town, however I am beginning to feel uneasy as well. If you are worried about crime then I advise you to look elsewhere and weight your options. Remember there are plenty suburbs with crime issues as well. I will advise you to pick a community, attend a few neighborhood meetings and just listen. The residents will be pretty open and honest about the positives and negatives of a community.
