What cities would you consider Atlanta's most unique suburbs (using any criteria). Which suburbs are just different from your traditional suburb. Many of suburbs in Atlanta started as railroad stops, or were there before Atlanta even existed. So there has to be some unique ones out there.

I guess it would be Decatur.

For an exurb, I suppose you could say Peachtree City.

Peachtree City is fairly unique--and it's definitely a suburb.

The Fernbank area of Druid Hills. It feels in some places like you're 200 miles from Atlanta.
Others?
Pine Lake
Mountain Park

What's Pine Lake and Mountain Park? And what makes these suburbs unique?

They were founded as 'getaway' communities from the city. They have retained that feel. Both have small lakes at their center.

Yes, Pine Lake and Mountain Park are divine. And Berkeley Lake should also be grouped with them.

Norris Lake is another similar area--but it's not a separate municipality.
