How much below asking can you reasonably bid Real Estate?

Some say anything lower than 25% of asking prices is "low ball" offer.

But i've had friends say, they've gotten properties for cents on the dollar.

I'm looking at a few $100k properties...thats been listed for several months with no buyers... Should i offer $75k? or even as low as $60k?

Anyone care to share there stories?

Our agent told us the same thing, but I knew better. I recently bought my house 20% below asking. I made a single offer, they countered, I repeated the original offer, they accepted.

It really depends on the asking price, if it's high, 25% is fine.

Totally depends on location, the owners situation etc. Yes in this market people are getting some really good deals and 20-25% less then asking is pretty common.
