Based only on your weather and not a single trip out there, my husband has been looking for jobs in your area. (I'm looking out my window right now at 5 feet of snow and I just can't take it anymore!) He has a tentative job offer in Vinings, GA.
Here's what we're looking at...
(We will rent initially)
1. Budget -
Not more than $1000 per month is ideal, but it's flexible. We could realistically spend $1300 a month. We just hate to "throw away" extra money when we're renting.
2. House/Condo/Townhome?
House with yard. Preferably in a neighborhood.
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home)
Commute to Vinings. I've looked at Smyrna and Marietta. Are those places decent commutes?
4. Children(public school vs. private)
Two kids. Oldest will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. Public school
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two
Definitely suburban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not?
Not important
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.
Close to parks would be nice. I'm not that picky. It would be great if it was close to a YMCA or Kroc center or whatever you have down there.
Also, the furthest SE I've ever been is Utah.
I'm terrified of tornadoes. Should I look for a home that has a basement?
