i will be moving to atlanta in february as a flight attendant and would like to hear any suggestions as where would be a SAFE, covenient and decent place to live with light traffic commute time of 20 min or less to hartsfield airport and no more than 30min to downtown. i have looked into the south atlanta area (cascade, college park, camp creek, east point, hapeville and forest park) but to be honest i am more interestedin suburban life in a middle-upper middle class neighborhood that is at least 50 perc caucasian and and safe....none of the above mentioned are.any thoughts on Morrow?? seems pretty decent from research i have done, it seems pretty decent, affordable, clodse to hartsfield, mixed and mostly safe?? thought about stockbridge but that is too far downany suggestions are greatly appreciated. GETTING TO AND FROM AIRPORT IS MAIN CONCERN.

A lot of airport employees live in Fairburn, Fayetteville & Peachtree City and even Newnan. Depending on where exactly you are in those towns, where exactly at the airport you have to go, and what time you have to travel would determine the commute time. We used to live off of Senoia Rd. and my husband could get to the airport in about 20 minutes early in the morning (5AM).

If you are white you will have a hard time finding anything near ATL that is not a ghetto or an all black area. There are many nice all black areas in south Fulton around Camp Creek or Roosevelt Hwy and they are pretty safe as well. But you would be one of a few whites there. To the south is Clayton and to the east if Forrest Park. Clayton is a ghetto and Forrest Park is a barrio. You don't want to live in either. I would suggest you consider Fayetteville or Peachtree City. They are safe, clean and mostly (about 75%) white.

Flight Attendant Person--

Look into the Vinings/Smyrna Area.

Very popular with airline employees with an easy commute to the airport.

The Vinings/Smyrna Area meets all of your criteria 100%. The area has been very popular with airline employees since the 1970's. Safe, convenient, shopping, pretty, and solidly middle to upper class.

Good Luck.

You could live in Midtown and hop the marta train that goes to the airport. Condo living would make sense for you because of your travel schedule. Suburban life is not always what it's cracked up to be-I lived in the burbs for 12 years. Now I live across from the High Museum and the marta station is right behind it. I feel safe here and there are many of those of caucasian descent living here, so please do not make that false assumption that intown living is scary; it's not.

Dude, you forgot that part of Forrest Park is a rice paddy. You also forgot to mention that parts of Riverdale are a 7-11. What other offensive racial stereotypes can we think up?

Op, if you want to live the Whitey McCorngood lifestyle then I suggest Peachtree City. Hell, everyone drives around in golf carts. You really can't get much whiter than that, speaking of racial stereotypes.

It is not about racial stereotypes but helping somebody find a place where she would feel comfortable with her neighbours. My neighbours in Smyrna are all races- in fact the ones next door are black. I have no problems with any of them. But there are people of any race that feel more comfortable with others who look like they do. That is why blacks who could afford to live in a mixed race community live in places like Cascade and Sandtown and it is why whites often live in places like Fayette when they could live in Riverdale if they wanted. The OP stated that she did not wish to live in a community where she was a minority and she would be in Clayton, south Fulton or Forest Park which are the closest areas to the Atlanta Airport.
