Hi,

Im looking for people who live or have lived in the northeast that could help compare these areas.

John's Creek, Suwanee, Buford, Sugar Hill, Flowery Branch, Cumming

I would love to be close to the lake, but I know if i end up working in Atlanta, it would be a far commute from some of those.

But just a little about me, single 20s, so school system does not matter. And im looking to rent a townhouse or apartment, and would like to be in a nice area. Im coming from the northeast, so anything i get here will be affordable.

Find "the job" first. Then we can talk about affordability. "Im coming from the northeast, so anything i get here will be affordable." Just because you make a hundred grand there, doesn't mean you'll make that here.

So,
Johns Creek- Fulton County, high taxes
Suwanee, Buford, Sugar Hill, Flowery Branch- Gwinnett County, no so high taxes.
Cumming- Forsyth County, low taxes comparatively.
Other area with lake proximity- Gainesville, Hall County

Any opinions though? I guess im not asking about money wise (taxes). More about the areas, like how nice they are, type of people etc. Nice center of towns? Anything in the center of town to do? things like that

All of those areas are nice, but I would have been bored out of my mind if I had to live in any of these areas while single in my 20s. Suwanee has a very nice town center but it, as well as the other areas you mentioned, are really more family oriented. Using the term diverse is relative, but I find Cumming less diverse than Suwanee and Johns Creek.Nice people for the most part. I'd shoot myself if I had to commute from Cumming or Buford to downtown or midtown Atlanta on a daily basis.

What exactly do you want to know?
