Just moved near the Hamilton Mills area and was wondering if anyone takes the Marta Rail to the airport and if you do which station? It seemed to me Doraville station is the nearest any suggestions will help.

I always take Marta to the airport, but I live intown. Doraville would be the closest station for someone coming from Hamilton Mill.

Is it the best thing to do? does it leave you inside the airport? I picked up a friend last week from the airport and it took me 2 hours with traffic to get back home. Just wondering if I should tell people to get the train and pick them up at the station or take it myself and leave the car there when traveling.

You can leave car in the Doraville station for free for a day (I think that's $7 a day after that). Then pick up your friend at the airport. MARTA stops inside the airport. Or you can just drive to airport and pick your friend there.

I would recommend MARTA if you're traveling to or from the airport during the weekday. The weekends are not a bad commute, so time really isn't a factor. MARTA drops you off right inside the airport near the DELTA terminals. Make sure that your flight doesn't get back too late. MARTA shuts down sometime after midnight, so you could find yourself stuck at the airport if not careful.

Thanks for the info I'm going to try it out sounds alot better then driving to the airport. We relocated from Miami and we don't have any transportation system for the airport and it seems nice to have an option. I made the commute during rush hour on a thursday and it wasn't pleasent so i'll defenitely give it try. Now my another question I had was How long does it take from Doraville and is it safe?

Doraville station itself is safe since there is parking deck for cars with large fence. Neighborhood itself is not the greatest, but as long as you just use it for MARTA, it shouldn't be a problem. As for how long, it depends on hour and day from Hamiliton Mill.
