how Far is Marrietta (sp?) from Powder springs. And what is the best zip code to look into moving to? Need some advice, thanks!

marietta is a decision with schools, price range and commute all as a factor. Marietta is a very small city and a very large mailing area. Can you describe your situation a little better?

From the heart of Powder Springs to Marietta square (county seat), its a 20 minute drive (give or take).

The best zip code to live in is probably 30068/30067....if you can afford it.

Default Marietta and Powder Springs Commute

The zip codes are not always a good indicator because some of them (30064 for example) cover both very good and very bad areas and stretch for many many miles. I've lived in 30064 maybe 6 miles apart and both are very good areas, but in between there are pockets of not good at all.

If you are going to live in Marietta and commute to Powder Springs, I would settle west of the Marietta Square at least 6 blocks out (semicircle). NW is much more expensive and nicer, but west (Burnt Hickory Road area and west) and SW (more than 1 mile) are both safe and easy commute, lower dollar cost. Anything good North, East, SE, NE of Marietta will put you in a bad commute situation because it will be North or East of I-75 at least, or else put you in some unsafe areas of town.

If you re going to live in Powder Springs and commute to Marietta, I would settle north of Macland Road and stay out of PS proper, particulary not South or East of downtown. North of Macland and a half mile west of Sandtown will put you in a much better (and newer) school district but higher dollar. Average income north of Macland is probably 40K higher than south of the same road. East of PS is even lower income, such as along Hopkins road.

There are several good cross connects between North PS and West Marietta.

I agree that the commute is about 20 minutes either way. I allow 30 minutes if taking Dallas Hwy to Marietta before 8:30 AM or 20 minutes along PS road mornings 20 minutes either way later in the day.

If you are going to live in Marietta I would suggest going near the square. There are a lot of developments going up where they are building really nice housing to revitalize the area. We're buying one of the lower priced new townhouses in a neighborhood right outside the square and they are beautiful.
