So last night was pretty brutal for Atlanta!

I LOVE big storms, and coming from Florida I missed them to an extent, but I feel like I definitely got my fill last night.

I was watching a rerun of Celebrity Apprentice at about 11:30 in my Midtown tower, which faces the direction of the storms, when I literally saw the wind slam my building and heard it. I paused the show to watch (and to step out on the balcony), but the pressure was so strong I couldn't open my door (and my ears popped!). Sure enough 10 seconds later I saw the power in Midtown/Downtown flicker off and I saw a few transformers blow. It was so eerie to have the power out in Midtown, which NEVER happens. Transformers were exploding everywhere and you could hear them over the freight train winds. I saw two cars literally sliding sideways on the parking lot below me, it was awesome. The lightning was awesome too. I think this was the first time where I thought my window on my door leading to my balcony might not make it.

Anyway, let's hear it! Hope everyone is safe and sound now and sad for the 4 deaths in the area

Lots of wind in North Fulton. but nothing amiss in my immediate neighborhood this morning. I'm sure I'll find some trees down when I go out later.

I hate driving around here when we've had rain followed by high winds. Some of the trees lining our roads seem to lean under the best conditions. On days like this I don't trust any of them to stay upright.

A few tree limbs down in my neighborhood and we had 1/2" hail last night and for a very brief period, very high winds. Could hear the roof "creeking" enough to go "oh crap", but nothing came of it. It was more irritating to have the constant rolling thunder/lighting that followed for a couple of hours afterward as I had to take the dog out, and trying to get an old dog to poop with lighting going off over her head isn't the easiest thing to do at midnight.

Luckily the power didn't go off in our downtown apartment. But there were lots of tree limbs down on Broad Street. And the walk outside this morning was insane. We had to press diagonally against the wind like they do in Chicago photos I've seen. I love downtown, but those tall buildings can create some crazy wind tunnels.

We just had a lot of rain and perhaps a few minutes of pea-sized hail, but we're located down in a valley with a large ridgeline protecting us to the west. Folks on TV said the front was moving at 45mph, but we didn't see much wind.

My car was covered with light debris this morning, mainly leaf fragments.

Several trees down in my North Decatur neighborhood, but just some limbs down in my yard. The scary parts of the storm managed to pass us by. Our only inconvenience was the cable going out (and still out). Comcast isn't even giving an ETA on when cable will be restored because they have so many outages Metro-wide.

The metal arm that holds the traffic light at Peachtree St. and Auburn Ave. was shifted almost 90 degrees this morning. Not sure if theyve put it back in place, but be very careful if you're driving or walking in this area.
