I could not read this article without SMH and laughing at the pathetic situation that is the Atlanta School System:

Atlanta school board grapples with problems in two-day retreat with mediators *| ajc.com

So we have a failing school system still embroiled in a cheating scandle from last year....a school system with a pathetic graduation rate, test scrores way below the national average and the "School Board" decides to go off on a "retreat" complete with tax paid mediators and "policy experts". All this because these idiots can't get along.....geez. It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad. Note that the location of the retreat was not disclosed. Meanwhile the kids continue to fail. I hope Governor Deal dismisses them all on July 1st.

North winds - Good point. They should all be kicked out and then we can start over.

In addition APS spent $1 billion on physical facilities in the past 10 years. That's for a system with 49,000 students. Compare that to Cobb (106,000), Fulton (91,000) or Gwinnett (159,000).

APS has more administrators being paid over $100,000 than any system other than DeKalb. And a superintendent paid over $400,000 a year, with a $100,000 a year chauffeur.

Not to mention the fact that we spend more per pupil than anywhere else in the state.

I think one of the requirements to run for the school board should be having a child enrolled in the district. That's the only way to keep the focus on the students.
