I would just like to know what part south of the I-20 have you lived (or do you live) for you to say that? I live south of I-20 and there are GREAT areas that are south. I would not advise anyone to completely an area because everyone's experience is different.

Jonesboro is country-type suburb of ATL. It's better than Chicago. If U want something like Chicago suburbs, go North of ATL. Houses are very cheap in Jonesboro.

I would assume you MEANT, that you'll be MOVING down here and taking a job in jonesboro (?).

Jonesboro has some very rough areas. Clayton County as a whole has seen a rise in crime over the last few years. Working there during the day should be ok unless it's in the worst of the areas, but as far as living there, you'd want to avoid it.

Look south of there at the communities of Fayetteville and Peachtree City for two of the nicer southside burbs.
Jonesboro is not as rough as Chicago!! I've traveled thru there and did not like chicago!! Use your own instincts when U come here and house shop. Make a map and google directions and get a good real estate agent who will take U to about 6 places one day. We did that and signed papers on a vacation here last March. Moved in in July. I like this place. They lied about the weather, tho. Cold!!

I am amazed that not ONE person has mentioned that Clayton county schools lost accredidation, that alone should tell you all you need to know about Clayton county. The politicans are as corrupt as anywhere you will find even Chicago!

As far as these so called nice areas of Clayton county let me just say there is ONE nice area of Clayton county called Lake Spivey. It is like an island surrounded by a landfill because everything around it is low to moderate income housing while the houses in Spivey are all over a million bucks. AVOID CLAYTON COUNTY LIKE THE PLAGUE

Probably because other than the last two posts, the rest of this thread was from September 2007, before they lose accreditation.....

Clayton County has political problems like Chicago, so U would be able to flourish here. The schools are very, very good in East Clayton County, and without the drama that U will find the closer U get to Atlanta. Unless U can afford a million dollar house down here (comparable to a 5 million dollar house in Chicago), dont try to buy one. I dont know what this commentator is talking about because I havent traveled to all areas of the county, but , like I said before, , house hunt, pull up stats on the demographics and dont be fooled by other people's opinions. A lot of outsiders want the property that surrounds the airport and are trying (successfully it seems ) to scare away new residents. Aint gonna work for us. Georgia ranks 48th in the nation as far as schools are concerned so I dont worry about accreditation. We are not relying o n the HOpe scholarship which the Clayton kids will get anyway, according to the governor. Blessings.
