I just moved to the East Atlanta area and would like to find a church to go to. I have a Southern Baptist background, but I don't agree with everything that they do. I would prefer a non-denomintional church, preferably one with a contemporary feel, I like the old hymnals but also the new stuff as well. I really don't care for the 'mega' church feel either, i don't want to get lost in the crowd at a church that just cares about being 'known'. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

hmmm --there should be plenty of options

I visit around --I tend to believe, correctly or not that -many churches in the vicinity of Emory have 'that' sort of more 'open' beliefs.

I like Shallowford Presbyterian--not exactly in the East Atlanta area but you would find some of what you described there.

Oak Grove Methodist Church--would also have similar opportunities.

St. Bartholomew's Episcopal church--I enjoy visiting there.

Glenn Memorial Methodist church--next door to Emory? Lots of people from Candler can be found there.

The UU churches are not non-denominational in the strict sense but they are about as laissez-faire as it gets.
