How planes approch Atl depends on the winds and the runways that are being used. There are Fixes (points in space) Log/lat/alt that they go to to line up for the runways. ATC tell the pilot to go to one of fixes to get them lined up for the runways. How they get to the fixes is dependin on the weather, the direction they are comming from, other traffic, other airspace they need to avoid.

am i going crazy? or did flight paths change?
There are a number of corporate/private jets (2 engine) flying approaches to peachtree dekalb.....just seems to be more than I recall over the last 10 years.....they seem to be coming in a North to Southeasterly direction.

Maybe the airport is expanding. Haven't really paid attention to it though.
