Houston is lush but not as lush as Atlanta, of course.

There's been no massive deforestation in the southern parts of the metro, so I'm not sure what you mean here. Of course, most aerial photography of the region is towards the northern end because that's where all the skylines are but the entire metro area lies in the Piedmont.

Lol Nah, I meant that only the northern parts of Greater Houston are comparable to Atlanta's tree cover.

Not as many trees in Houston, but the trees do tend to splay their branches more than the trees in Atlanta.

Those are oaks which are characteristic for the coastal plain regions. Because I grew up in that region, I'm partial to oaks and Palmettos (SC boy) myself.
