Depends on how you're measuring it.

OR the 99 team

Javy Lopez, Ryan Klesko, Brett Boone, Ozzie Guillen, Chipper Jones, Brian Jordan, Andruw Jones, Otix Nixon, Kevin Milwood, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, etc...

I forgot Ozzie Guillen played here, WOW.
I wonder why we never heard him running off at the mouth when he was here like he does now? I think he's hilarious, and I'm happy he is the manager of the Marlins because now we can see and hear his meltdowns up close and personal.

.
College football is a non-issue in New England because they can't play football in New England. If a team like Boston College could actually be competitive with a roster full of players from the area, unlike a West Virginia with a team full of imports from Florida and Georgia then I'm sure the locals would take to it over a period of time. Outside of the Rust belt area of Ohio and Pennsylvania and a few HS here and there in Jersey, football players up that way aren't that good for the most part. And it's obvious they like football because they like pro football. And I would be willing to bet that at least 70% of the Patriots team is from the South or Cali.

WE PLAY THAT REAL PIG SKIN DOWN HERE BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it's a non-issue because the universities in New England actually care about academics more than sports, and because the professional teams are dominant. In New England, kids don't have to earn an education via a sports scholarship, and the vast majority of residents of the area don't care to watch them in college in any case, because they have dominant pro teams.

College is the minor leagues. Give me the major leagues.

Dude you named three people on a roster of 53.
What about the star of the team, the golden boy Tom Brady? He's from Cali.
Vince Wilfork and Chad Johnson are both from South Florida. Shaun Ellis is from South Carolina and Marcus Stroud is from Georgia. And thats just off the top of my head. Every single football team in the NFL is stocked full of players from the south or Cali. The NE isn't putting out players like that.

As opposed to the South, where academics are hardly a blip on the radar, right?

Well, they certainly aren't going to earn one with help from the Hope scholarship, now are they?

I find this continuted level of arrogance towards the South beyond sickening.

Again, because the New England states lead the nation in income and education. The New England states are overwhelmingly white and middle class. I only bring it up because kids are not growing up playing sports in high school and then trying for a big scholarship to college the way they do in the south.

My son is almost 16 and played Pop Warner football when he was younger. When we moved here at 12, he wanted to play and we signed him up for the middle school team which is affiliated with the high school. I'll admit he was over matched. The kids at 12 were like high school seniors in New England.

It's just not that big of a deal up there. People enjoy Pop Warner and even a little high school ball, but it's nothing like here or Texas where it's a religion.
