We are looking at relocating to the north Atlanta area. We are either going to buy in Alpharetta or the Sandy Springs or Buckhead areas. Are there any tax advantages to buying in Sandy Springs/Buckhead/Huntcliff area which could help me mentally justify private school tuition over just buying in Alpharetta. I really like some of the character homes that are in these other areas better but realize I will likely have to bite the bullet and send my kids to private schools. YIKES!! Also, if I DO send to private schools, which ones are the best? Thanks for any help. I am so impressed with the knowledge imparted in this forum.

I doubt it since all of places you mentioned are in Fulton county.

I heard about that Paces Academy and Woodward Academy are pretty good. Try to find some info on the web.

Hebron Academy in Dacula is accredited and listed as a top private school in the nation, yet alone GA.
It is a Baptist Academy and even being Lutheran, if I had school age children I would not hesitate sending them there.

I check the web Paces Academy has average SAT 1312. Woodward Academy has middle 50% between 1200 to 1350 (my guess average is around 1275). In comparsion, Walton high in Cobb only have SAT of 1150 and NorthView has SAT of 1125.

I know a couple of college classmates from Paces Academy. I saw Woodward Academy when I was housing hunt in Duluth. They have nice campus there which I was impressed.

Default Thanks so much! Would anyone consider sending..

their kids to the public schools in this area--I think its Sandy Springs Middle and North Springs HS?? I can't believe how expensive the private schools are!! Hope this doesn't rule out Sandy Springs or Huntcliff subdivisions for us...Thanks for the great replies...

North Spring high, I believe, is Magnet school for Fulton county. So it is pretty good (1105 for SAT, pretty high for Georgia School). However, Sandy Spring Middle school is questionable in quality.

Don't if there is any charter school around that area. I know there is one charter is planned next to my townhouse (duluth, ga). They plan to offer year round K-8 programs.

I am also considering a private school for my children. I am wondering which organization listed Hebron as a top school in the nation.

Also, I would like a private school with a small class size, in the north Atlanta area. Does anyone have any information on good schools with small class sizes?

Thank you
