Good morning everyone I am in search of a little information!!! I am planning to relocate from Ohio to Atlanta by the end of next year, and I want to work in downtown Atlanta, but I am thinking of living in Smyrna. I was down there a couple of weeks ago, and of all the areas my cousin took me to see, I liked Smyrna the best. Its more like the city living that I'm used to and enjoy. The other areas I visited were a little to rural or urban for me. I also thought Kennesaw was an area I'd like to live in, but I'm thinking that is too long of a commute to downtown Atlanta!! Any suggestions?

You're right that Kennesaw will be a very long commute to Atlanta, especially if you're going to downtown Atlanta. Smyrna and Vinings should be a good match for you.

Smyrna has good and bad areas. Vinings is actually a very small area but developers will call places "Vinings.. XXX" up to 8 miles from the REAL Vinings area, so be careful about that.

You didn't metion any kind of budget at all. Buy/rent? Price? Condo or home or apartment, etc etc?

Thanks for the info. Considering I may have to move in a hurry, I'll probably rent for about 6 months, but no more than a year. If I get the job that I want then I'm looking to start out about 50k at a minimum. I've been looking a houses that are similar to the one I live in now which is a split level (haven't found many of those) in the Smyrna area. I like having a front and back yard, but again-I haven't found much of that down there either. Any suggestions?

It's hard to search for a job by location unless you want to work for a particular company which only has one office in town. Unlike traditional big cities, most of the jobs in Atlanta are in the 'burbs, not downtown. Most people commute from one 'burb to another, not from the 'burbs to downtown.

Ms. Esquire...I am also relocating to Atlanta from Ohio within the next few months, no later than November and inasmuch as my search will be in the legal field I thought it best for me to settle into an apartment downtown until I land my position within a firm. Have you thought about the downtown area? There are many nice units in the Peachtree area. Good luck in your search
