My fiance and I are moving to Atlanta from upstate New York in August. He will be attending Georgia Tech for graduate school. Does anyone know of any places near the school where we can get a nice apartment? Were hoping to get a 1 bedroom for no more than $750 a month. I'm starting to get nervous because I've been seeing a lot of post about unsafe areas in Atlanta. I'm starting to think maybe it's impossible to find a nice apartment for under $800 that is not in a ghetto. I just want to find a place in a safe and diverse area. A suburb would be fine too. I plan on getting a job at a school district close to where we live so if anyone knows of any close to Georgia Tech please let me know. If anyone has advice or knows of any apartments we should look at it'd be greatly appreciated!

You can find apartments for that price in safe areas in several intown neighborhoods. Old 4th Ward, Reynoldstown, Edgewood, Kirkwood. The best areas that offer apartments in your price that are close to GT are east of downtown. These areas are experiencing gentrification, but still have deals on apartments.

Jobs in school districts are hard to find. Really hard. Are you a teacher?

Even worse. Many districts have cut back on parapros. I'd be far more concerned about finding a job that about finding a safe apartment for $800/month. You'll find far more apartments in that price range than you'll find jobs.
