I'm starting my research on this topic but those especially with long-term relationships with cat specialists with a small or large practice are urged to supply feedback here

Please, no VCA referrals.

I am interested only in those vets who put love and care care before their daily/weekly/monthly financial targets.

Thank you.

Sorry, can't get rid of that emoticon

I have been going to Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic since 1986 - that would be a total of 4 cats that have all lived to be senior citizens. My current cat is 18 years old and doing great although she was diagnosed with CRF over 1 year ago.

I travel often for work and have used cat sitters for 20+ years and they always speak positively about Paces Ferry. I have also gotten positive comments about Cat Care of Vinings. I have not used them but have heard it is an excellent place especially if you have a cat that is quite timid or difficult to take to the vet.

In the case of an emergency, I have been happy with Cobb Veterinary Emergency Clinic

Do you have a particular area of town you prefer to take your cat to? I know a good vet in Peachtree Corners, but it is probably too far?

The Cat Doctor in Roswell - Dr. Wagner and Dr. Stumpf are both amazing veterinarians who treat cats (and their owners) very well. I've had personal experience with a cat that was very sick that they probably gave an extra year or two of happy life before the inevitable happened. They also only treat cats, so no worries about dogs upsetting your cats in the waiting room.

I don't have a cat, this is just generalized vet information that I learned....

Most people think that vets are like doctors. You know, you don't really price compare doctors because their fees are more or less standard, at least by insurance companies. Vet prices are not standard at all. I don't mean they may be 30% higher or lower than each other, I mean some vets literally charge TEN TIMES what other vets do! I'm serious, prices are all over the map for vet care.

I have found that neutering is a pretty good barometer. When calling around, ask how much it costs to have a dog neutered. My vet did it for $80 and we had no problems, but VCA wanted $450 and insisted on an overnight stay (completely unnecessary and probably worse for the dog than being at home).

It's important to find a caring vet, but just make sure you're not getting completely ripped off. Some of them out there will try and do just that.

I use Cat Care of Vinings. They are very conveniently located near the interstate, and are amazing. They genuinely care about your cat's health and well-being and are also very sensitive on budget issues and will work with you on that.

I agree with this. We've only had to use their services once, but they revived a 10 year old diabetic kitty of ours that we found on the floor completely unresponsive one night. It was somewhat expensive, but in the end she completely recovered and she lived to be almost 17.
