My family is about to move from SC to ATL. We have 4 children ages 10, 7, 4, and 1. Our 10 year old and 7 year old are gifted students, with our 10 yr old already reading/doing math on a high school level. Our youngest child is adopted and is bi-racial. Basically, we are looking for the following:
1. great public schools that will challenge our kids
2. enough diversity that our youngest child will be accepted
3. large enough home to fit our family and our budget...budget is 170,000-230,000.
4. would love a 30 min. or less commute to work (will work near Vinings area)
5. neighborhood/suburban setting where kids our kid's ages will be

We are a middle-class family that want to raise great kids to become great adults.
Any advice on where to look for homes would be appreciated!

Chaliz, I have the same questions. We're relocating to the NW area of Atlanta in the next few weeks and need advice too. Have you decided where to settle?

Too bad that person didn't get replies back in May when this Topic was started.

I would have suggested Marietta if she plans to use public schools. East Cobb area of Marietta has a lot of top notch public schools.

A gentle reminder is definitely start your own thread if you read the sticky "move to Altanta" thread at top. Replying within that long thread, your post does get lost. Not sure why this one was overlooked as people here are usually quite helpful when someone's post has all the needed info in their first post.

For that money I don't think you could buy a nice house in Smyrna. The schools are also better in Kennesaw and East Cobb area where you could afford to live.
