if you move to atlanta, you'll definitely want to move in town, especially if you're single. check out the O4W (old fourth ward), west midtown, heck, if you can afford it, stay in midtown.

Moved in 2010 from Birmingham. Lived in Dunwoody first, then bought a house in Kirkwood. Love every minute of living in Atlanta, especially not having to drive. I think that's a big part of why my wife and I love living here is we don't have to deal with traffic!
We get out into the city and see everything we can, don't stay locked up in the house on the weekends.

Moved in 2007 from NJ- got tired of the high cost of living there, and had some friends down here. We timed the move perfectly, as we were able to get some decent cash out of our house before the market dropped.

Are we happy here? As happy as one can be- I've got a great job, a nice, new house, and a healthy family. We don't plan to go anywhere any time soon.

When you say you don't drive are you saying that public transports is good in your location?

It was a big part of picking the neighborhood I live in, it was important to us that we not drive for everything. My wife and I live in Kirkwood, an intown, eastside neighborhood. Our house is walking distance to a station and both are jobs are fairly close. Her's within walking distance in Buckhead and mine I ride a bike or take a bus. We can walk to restaurants, bars, grocery store, Target, Lowes, retail etc.

Not necessarily, I live in Tucker (west of 285) and getting to the city is a straight shot for me down Lawrenceville Hwy to Ponce to Midtown in 15 mins. I love my quick access to Little 5 and Midtown. It's just cheaper and I'm in a convenient area. But like you say, if you can pay for midtown, by all means move there lol
