Why is the Atlanta region still locked in the 1960's with the 55 MPH speed zone. It is highly unfair especially when the suburban areas have higher speed limits. Lawmakers deal with such other silly matters, why haven't a bill been introduced to raise the speed limit to 65 Mph within interstate 285.

Maybe it has more people getting on and off at more frequent exits and entrances?

I'd be in favor of something like dynamic speed limits. Keep it 55 when volume is high, but then during non-peak times, boost it up to 65 or 70.

I read an article about a group of students who drove 55 mph lined up next to each other taking all the lanes. Traffic was backed up for miles behind them and no one could be seen ahead.

This conversation is obsolete. They are already working on implementing increasing the speed limit and adding variable speed limits to 285.

Since does anybody do 55 on 285? Not even the semi-trucks do that.
