-Dade County becomes a legalized Gaming county
-Hutchinson Island (Savannah) becomes a legalized Gaming district
-Buzzard's Point/Island (Brunswick) becomes a legalized Gaming district
-Lakewood Fairgrounds (Atlanta) becomes a district for 1 large lakefront Casino/spa/resort/hotel
-Turn the (3) Dams in Columbus into a series of Casinos while maintaining the original Dams and create a "Historic Dams of Columbus" tour out of them. Eagle & Phoenix Dam, City Mills Dam AND North Highlands Dam (3 casinos & functioning Dams).

If you haven't noticed, I support casinos. Don't understand people's mentality for voting against casinos. Works well in MANY other places (Phoenix, San Diego, LA) and you don't NEED reservation land to have casinos. Ask Maryland.

*State Casino districts will be used to fund state & city transit solutions
...Excellent ideas.

@Psykomonkee and Born2Roll: Savannah is not Atlantic City (gambling) or New York City (huge avenues allowing double-decker tour buses) or a small town (movie crews filming horror movies in cemeteries). Savannah is a 280-year-old jewel that attracts people for its architecture, greenspaces, food and aesthetic pleasures. It's also a developing college town (three universities + satellite campuses for GA Southern and GA Tech). Savannahians have already spoken about the above and there'll be no Hutch Island casino with attached brothels, drug dens and other social ills. (Charleston regrets that it ever accepted the cruise line there.) For redneck-yahoo amenities, there are plenty of other places in Georgia. Savannah is not the place.

Why not just set them up right here in the ATL? Some of the MARTA stations that have been slow to develop would be perfect for casino gambling.

Why did you waste your time?

THIS IS A FANTASY THREAD... It's MY Georgia and I say casinos on Hutchinson Island. And that's final...
I'm not asking for a vote from Savannahians or a feasibility study.

That's also another idea I had. The ideas don't stop at Savannah, Brunswick and so on...

I imagined a Casino at Lakewood Fairgrounds. Bringing back the OLD Lakewood Fairgrounds with the amusement park on the grounds, Also with the new film studio, AND add a casino right on the lakefront so that you can have outdoor restaurant seating overlooking the water.
Allow paddleboats out on the water from a dock at the casino.
Then set up a horse racing track (no longer a dog racing or auto racing track like the old Lakewood) over in South Bend Park. Develop the rest of South Bend Park into a real nice public greenspace, and Wala...

Old Lakewood Fairgrounds... Bring this back (except updated)

https://maps.google.com/maps?safe=of...ed=0CAgQ_AUoAg

My Lakewood would have:

-Amphitheater
-Film studio
-Permanent Fair with LARGE ferris wheel
-Lakefront Casino

Then South Bend Park would have:
-Horse race track at South Bend Park
-South Bend Park green space

@Psyko. Casinos on Hutchinson Is. are not at all a fantasy in hayseed/redneck quarters of the state. Some people have recently suggested casinos around Savannah. Savannah is hot right now and the second-most-visited city in the state after Atlanta, so this type of money-making scheme is rearing its ugly head. But with gambling comes corruption, brothels, and drugs. How do you see this as a fantasy and not a nightmare? Or is money/development/casino gambling always a good thing in your book? Just curious.

Fantasy as in, the point of this thread is not to poke holes in what will or will not work for whatever reason. Stop being a Debbie Downer...

The point is just to hear random ideas of what people would do (from their own imagination). Ideal results are assumed. How did you not get that from "Scenario: You OWN Georgia" part???
Obviously nobody OWNS Georgia either, but that's the whole point.

There's a guy on here that wants to exile all the people he doesn't like. HERE, he has the right to post that, cause it's HIS fantasy. Would NEVER happen in real life, and just imagine THAT put to a vote... But who cares?

If we're referring to the City of Atlanta only, and not the entire metro area, then I'd remove the people from office who perpetuate the problems in the city and replace them with people who know what to do. There is no reason that the schools be in the state they're in in the city, or that the gov't should be full of nepotism and inefficiency.
