I am a huge fan of Lazy Boy (more than recliners) and Haverty's - both are going to be pricey for you but don't forget there will be big July 4th sales coming up

I could go to ten so-called discount furniture stores and still get the best deal at Macys. Plus you could pay it off on your card interest free.
Can you give us your hook up at Macy's then? Otherwise it is dramatically overpriced.

I know you said 'new,' but if you can find some pretty good deals on Craigslist. Sure you have to wade through piles of crap and scammers, but if you are on a budget, you can find good deals. I haven't bought via Craigslist, but I have sold some lightly used furniture before.

For new furniture, I've used Haverty's, Lazy Boy and Bassett within the past 2 years. Bassett would likely fall outside your price range, but Havertys and Lazy Boy should fit. Also, get coupons. Both of those places always have some sort of sale going on, so barter. There is a lot of wiggle room on prices, so aim low and be aggressive. Let them know that you are in the market for multiple rooms and that if things work out on the first room, you'd consider them for the other rooms. Things like that get the ear of commissioned employees.

Check out the Ballard outlet on Holcomb Bridge Road (off of 400). They can have some incredible buys, but check out to make sure there isn't damage to a piece.

Home Decorator's Collection. They have Pottery Barn/Restoration Hardware looking stuff but much cheaper. It's not the same grade, but it's not MDF (or at least not all of it). There are only 6 stores in the country so you should feel special.

Some people I know have bought their new furniture cheaper in High Point, NC. You don't have to go there, you could call the dealers/outlets there and tell them what you want. You pay no sales tax, just shipping and handling. High Point is about 5 hours drive from Buford.

I bought a leather couch from Costco and have been very happy with it. This was after going to about 10 stores in metro Atlanta. I got a sectional that came in 3 parts. I was able to get a leather sample prior to purchase and the customer support was awesome (I got some extra "feet" to help level it on hardwoods). The delivery/setup was great too.
