What are the best areas considering schools and neighborhoods. Far from the ghetto buy not deep in the suburbs. I'm looking to move in July 2016. First time home-buyer. Needs to be in a well diverse area ( I am African American so I already have my reservations) , great school, parks, and nearby accommodations such as markets and pharmacies. Looking forward to everyone's advice.

Thank You.

All depends on what you can afford, and whether you want to live in the city (inside 285), or the suburbs (outside 285).

Maybe you could look at Roswell. Or if that's too far out of town for you, maybe Smyrna or Tucker. All depends. And every area has a little bit different feel.

I recommend you start your own thread since your situation is quite different than the OP. The OP specifically does not want to be in the suburbs while your work puts you exactly there. But for a quick answer, Kennesaw is an excellent choice for you for good schools, easy commute and in your budget.

You needn't have reservations, regardless of your heritage. You'll find that most of Metro Atlanta is a melting pot of diversity in terms of culture, professionalism, and more. Some areas, however, do rise to the top when you're considering schools, parks and other qualities of life. Originally from the south, we moved to Gwinnett County from Northern New Jersey a little over ten years ago. The schools are among the best in the state, wining the Broad Prize for Urban Education multiple times, while our Award Winning Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation keep residents busy with activities, fitness and more all year long. We also have the largest mall in Georgia, the Mall of Georgia, and so much more.

Good luck on your move.
