I wonder if anything will change since the Falcons have 1 win and 4 losses. Sorry Tony G you came back for this.

Why would it? The stadium was never contingent on the 2013 season. (Or any season for that matter)

Somehow, despite all the drama in the press, you just knew it would be the south location.

I'm just happy the stadium is downtown. Kind of like in Dallas, isn't it a shame that beautiful stadium is not in downtown Dallas? Yuck!

Stadium cost rises by $200M

From the Atlanta Business Chronicle article:

The total cost of the new stadium will be $1.2 billion — some $200 million (or 20 percent) more than team officials previously projected.

Atlanta Falcons President Rich McKay said the increased costs are due to several factors related to the design and the site. It is all part of the desire of Arthur Blank, the owner of the Falcons, to develop a cutting-edge stadium for the city.

“The majority of the increased cost is related to the iconic design,” McKay said. “We never wavered from the design. We may have even enhanced it. That drives a lot of that cost.”
------------------------
I could see this coming, with the bizarre, "cutting-edge" design they selected, which includes a roof with eight different sections that will open like a flower (or something) and the exterior that looks like an enemy spaceship in a sci-fi movie. Iconic or fiasco, I guess we'll find out in 2017.

Fortunately, billionaire owner Arthur Blank and the Falcons are responsible for cost overruns above the original $1 billion estimate.

That's ok because we will have the best looking stadium in the world. Even though the Falcons will never win a championship this is still good for the city
