Does anyone know how long it has been closed down and if there are any plans to tear it down and build something new?

I think it was under going renovations to condos that fell apart during the great recession and never got completed.

Yup. The nearby homeowners sure wish it would be replaced... The vacant condo tower is a mess, and the clientele at the No-tell Motel is somewhat, say, sketchy.

Let's hope that SCAD steps in eventually.

Yuck.

Right across from SCAD, huh?

My money's on what Lovin said. But I don't know that they need the space right now.

With the amount of new apartments going up in Midtown you'd hope one of the developers would jump on this...it doesn't even look like it would take that much to finish it.

There was a building on the other side of that hotel that was torn down sometime within the past 2 years. Now it's an empty lot. I would think that someone who is interested in that site would want to buy the lot, the hotel and the empty building and combine the lots for a development.

The building itself looks like it is pretty cheaply constructed. My money is on what midtown mile girl is speculating on--both buildings get demolished at some point.

That is the most expensive billboard in the city. The owner is in no rush to sell or develop, plus it's in a horrible location. With only one street accessible(Peachtree), sitting on a bridge, intersected at an access road on ramp with no traffic light to enter or exit. Also, I'm sure that being over the 85 it will be noisy. The next time you drive past the building during the day imagine trying to make a left turn in, or out. SCAD maybe it's saving grace, maybe.
