I was just thinking about why so one wont come in and develop underground again.

The city was in worse shape then when they did it and peole were not moving back into downtown like they are now.So why can't Underground work this time?

Especially geared toward GSU Students.

I remember their was a GAP and Victoria Secret in Underground. Why not even one of those mini Wal-Mart's like at Georgia Tech?

I honetly belive its time has come.It it just me or am I wearing rose colored glasses?

They should clean underground up, and instead of making it for tourists, put in stores and clubs/bars that cater to current downtown residents.

I would like to see a mix of this. It can be a draw for tourists AND the immediate populace. God save Underground Atlanta.

What seemed to work in the past was exclusion. It used to have a dress code.

Really? So you don't think what they did at Atlantic Station by turning it around could not happen in Underground?

We have numerous threads about the underground, how I know because I have commented in most of them. The vision I see for the Underground is a Harrah's Casino. Get rid of Nathan Deal and get land gaming in the State of Georgia. Harrah's can redevelop that entire area.

P.S. We decided to take a ride thorough downtown after leaving Gilbert's in Midtown Saturday and ran up on the corner of Trinity and Peachtree Street SW. LORD HELP ME!! It looked like a third world out there. Let's keep in mind that is about 3 blocks from the Underground and the Greyhound station is around the corner on Forsythe. This area was extremely disturbing and disgusting. My sister's bike group used to feed the homeless out there on Sunday mornings back in 2011, but this is my first time seeing this area at night. They will have to do some major, major revitalizing to this area south of the underground first.

The condition Atlantic Station was in isn't even in the same galaxy as what Undergound is now.

True but Underground at one time was very much like Atlantic Station.I just went down hill. That was my point:All it needs is new redevelopement and bettter enforcement of code.

Maybe they should privatise it like Atlantic Station.

What was Atlantic Station like before? I don't think I ever went before, but I have some idea based on those renovated homes.

I had the best buffalo wings ever in Underground Atlanta in the early 90s. And if memory serves, a fine margarita. It was vibrant and fun. It does not feel that way to me now so I agree the area is prime for revitalization.

Why not re-imposing a dress code ?
