This is fantastic news for Clayton County and the Southside! Plans including demolishing the empty JCPenny space and replacing it with new restaurants and retail. Sounds very similar to what took place at Cumberland.

great; another mini SoCal right here in atlanta...

development is great, but a lot of atlanta is starting to look like beverly hills; high end, bland, and lacking any sense of taste.

That's one thing that I hope Atlanta keeps. I like some of it's edginess.

I don't think we have to worry about a foreclosed mall on Jonesboro Rd starting to look like Beverly Hills.

I am, however, glad to hear of the remodel. Anytime a company invests in Atlanta it's a good thing.

I really hopes this works out for Southlake. The new owners have a huge perception issue to tackle to make this work. As it stands now, a lot of people avoid Southlake like the plague. My wife is a store manager at a "intimate apparel" store and sometimes when they don't have an item they will mention to the customer that the store in Southlake has it. From what I've been hearing...most people rather drive to Lenox, Arbor Place or order it online before stepping foot in Southlake. I'm not saying it can't be done, but its going to take some time and money.

Vintage, the Southlake purchaser, seems to be busy with a lot of similar investment & redevelopment activity at malls across the country. I hope that they are successful at Southlake.
I was crushed when J.C. Penney closed their Southlake store & I worry about the Sears location there in view of the slow downward spiral of that retailer on a national basis.

Sounds like the new owner is jumping in with both feet. Good news for Southlake!

Hopefully this will be a big success and will serve as a model for Northlake.

Wow, do you have any idea how off the mark this comment is? That would in fact be the BEST thing that ever happened to Clayton County!
