I can't believe it took so long for this to happen. I'm sure Midtown will be next, but with Lenox being just a few miles away, Cumberland was leaving a larger hole. A whole lot of companies use Apple hardware now, so no major CBD should be without one of these stores.

You're right in that the restaurant side is constantly packed. Even during the great recession, you could hardly find a parking spot out front.

Still not too impressed w/ the backside. LOVE that Apple and high-end stores are coming in, but the Macy's and Sears sides of the mall need ALOT of work.

Costco drives a ton of people through there too.

This is hardly the lineup of a mall that is "kind of dying."

The Macy's at Cumberland has undergone an extensive renovation and while it is certainly not as high end as Lenox and Perimeter, the store definitely has a better assortment of brands than it did previously.

People forget that some of the wealthiest census tracts in Metro Atlanta, specifically the far western part of Buckhead and Vinings are closer to Cumberland than any other mall. In addition, Smyrna and parts of East Cobb which are reasonably close provide a pretty good base to draw from for this mall.
Sounds like Cumberland is pretty much on fire.

You think people in the burbs or wherever buying Apple products are uneducated?

It all comes down to where the money is.

I'm not saying they are uneducated in general. I'm saying they are placing the stores in locations that target individuals who still seek brick and mortar retail as a means to learn and be educated on a good or service.

There is plenty of money in Old Fourth Ward and it's surrounding neighborhoods, but historically those individuals for one reason or another have had to or have chosen to make the majority of their learning and purchasing decisions online. (mostly because specialty electronic retailers have had few or any ITP locations)

If the last time you saw Cumberland Mall was ten years ago, you might think it was dying. Nowadays...are you kidding me? Cumberland is on fire.

Certainly seeing lots of new construction around Cumberland. Plus, 2 new stores and 2 new restaurants at Parkway Pointe should revitalize the Cumberland Blvd area . . . not to mention when/if they start building the Encore 2.0 building previously mentioned on this forum.
