"Paving decisions" in Atlanta The top image is...

I can't wait until we get past this whole everyone-needs-a-car-because-it-is-the-only-way-you-can-get-around-phase then our cities can heal. Hopefully self-driving taxis will be here soon and the scar of parking lots will go away almost all together.

Don't look at Sherman, this is all the fault of "The Greatest Generation."

I'm just saying there is a natural tendency for folks to want to spread out a little. I'm no fan of parking lots.

There's also a natural tendency to want to be close to things you need in your day to day life. Our grandfathers screwed that up for us royally here in the city.

Agreed. Or on this forum the "elbow room" generation.

Let us tear most of the city for parking lots while we move out to the suburbs, land of even more parking lots. All in the name of selfish, lazy, individualistic behavior. Not sure how anyone (other than a stubborn narcissist) can justify this type of behavior. But that's typical of that generation who treasured individual success over the success and health of a community.

Well, don't forget this country was built on elbow room.
