Hello,

I have to drive relatives from Lawrenceville, GA to the Atlanta Jackson airport this coming Wednesday morning. The flight departs at 6AM. It's just an domestic flight. What time do you guys think we should leave the house to be there in time? I've never driven to Atlanta this early in the morning on a weekday. Please advise the best possible route as well. Thank you!

Anyway you go barring an accident it should be a speed limit shot. I assume they're planning to be dropped off around 5am?
They sometimes do construction overnight so check any routes for that before you leave.

I would suggest that you take 85 south the entire route to the Airport. It's literally a straight shot.

Exactly. This early in the morning, you'll be just fine. Take 85 and follow the signs through downtown and on to the domestic terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta (not Atlanta Jackson.. or whatever you called it)

You won't see much traffic at that time of the morning. Expect speed-limit speeds the whole way. Check traffic before you leave just to make sure there hasn't been a big accident overnight.

When I am departing on a morning flight I know that I won't typically hit bad traffic if I'm on the freeway before 6:30. So you should be fine.

Best route is I-85 through the city. But if there's an accident and a backup along the route inside the perimeter, then your alternate is I-85 to I-285 and around to the east.

I've done a number of 6 and 6:30 am flights and never run into any traffic from downtown to the airport. Barring an accident, the freeway will be pretty clear.
