I need a good alarm company. Also some who installs burglar bars.

Burglar bars? Where do you live? I would suggest a good Rottweiler and a gun. If someone wants to get in your house, they will. A dog is probably the strongest deterrent out there, followed by the racking of a shotgun.

Ackerman has quick response and unlike many companies who advertise in the Atlanta are, their response center is local.

I also suggest getting a dog, a gun, a nice loud alarm and bars on some windows.

Brinks will put sensors in doors and windows so when one of them opens it'll make a lil beep . & when the alarm is on it'll set the whole house off.

anybody use a radio signal instead of a phone line for their security system? I'm considering it but I don't know anyone who uses this.

our back up is this way, but we have to switch to digital soon (FEB)......

....as far as security....we have a cat, 12 gauge, .and a .40 cal ruger ready to go.....oh yeah and the alarm.

Each grew up and licensed, no kids, never carried until I get carjacked/kidknapped!

I do. It's actually a small sim card in a radio and is a honeywell transmitter that operates on Cingular's GPRS network. It's my only form of monitoring and as long as I have power to my house - this is a non-issue (as is any other alarm). The cell site going down is also not a problem as cingular operates at least three sites I can roam to from my house. The likelyhood of all three going down is unlikely.

i had the same problem a few weeks ago, made some calls and ended up going with alarmforce. the install was free and it's $25 per month.

i found that most of the companies offer similar packages and prices. so for me, it was the 2-way voice (helps reduce false alarms) and the warranty that made the difference. alarmforce included both of these for me, ackerman wanted over $400 for their 2-way voice.

hope that helps!
