I am very excited to have a Walmart coming to my neighborhood in East Point! I was raised here in my grandfathers house just one block away from the old eyesore South towne apartments, which is now, Walmart! I now live across the street from my grandfather, he doesn't get around that good anymore, and he has already built a ramp going down his front porch so he can take his hub around and ride right down the street! We are soooo excited. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the extra traffic, but I'm ready for y'all to get it rolling! Welcome to the neighborhood Walmart!

The only area I'm familiar with in East Point is at the Metropolitan and Cleveland Avenue intersection. I used to go to a hair salon over there next to a Kroger and Big Lots, but it's been a long time since I went there. I'm a little surprised there is not already a Walmart in East Point. Where will it be?

Wow. The area must be in dire shape indeed if a Walmart is considered a plus!

Well, good for them. Adding some walkability to somewhere you want to go is a good thing.

If you saw what it replaced, its a definite upgrade. Plus, there isn't much in the way of general merchandise in the area, so luckily its not going to be running any locally run shops off of main street.

I wouldn't take that much of a snooty route with the judgment. I listened to friends who lived in Midtown complain for years that there was no Walmart in town. I'm still in an ongoing argument about why I don't like Aldi, but different strokes for different folks.

Honestly with the lack of investment from retailers in South Fulton, particularly inside the perimeter, it is definitely a plus. It certainly is better than the eyesore vacant apartments it replaced. I'm not generally a fan of Wal-Mart, but if I were being truthful - I do look forward to not having to drive 6-10 miles to get sundries from either Camp Creek or Edgewood.

Shelley - I take it you live in either Jefferson Park or River Park? Good to see another East Pointer on here. Also - welcome!

It's literally 2 or 3 blocks west of the Metropolitan/Cleveland intersection you spoke of....on the other side of 85. I think it might have a Cleveland Ave address.
