CAR Purchasing in GA (Atlanta: sales, loan, how much)

What can kind a charges should I expect when purchasing a used car in GA. Might go with individual or dealership. What are the sales taxes like? Are there transfer fee taxes & title costs?

new car:

sales tax b/t 6 and 7% depending on the county with tax, tag, and title fees.

used car:

no sales tax, just pay to change the title, AD Valorem Tax comes at the end of the year on your birthday. MAKE SURE WHO SELLS YOU THE CAR SIGNS THE TITLE AS IT SAYS ON THE TITLE <----CANT EXPRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be more worried about interest rates if you're taking out a loan, 0-4% for new car, ~7% for used car.

If you go to carmax.com and find one car in Atlanta (even if it is not the one that you want) you can calculate out the taxes and destination fee (if there is one) and this will give you a better idea of how much the fees will cost you.
