The parking deck at The Overlook used to be a great place to make out and ... uh ... you know ... back in the day. Great views of downtown, midtown and Buckhead. I doubt you could get up there now, with security the way it is.

Cobb County GA Peaks List
I love that link! I was curious to find out the high points for the low elevation areas in Coastal Georgia... 51' is the highest point in Chatham and the airport sits right on it.

Anyway, to the OP, you'll have to search in the exurbs for a REAL mountain and perhaps even beyond that. I would search around Dahlonega or Gainesville and points north.

There are no real mountains in the metro area. You can find some houses set into hills in various spots around (as people have mentioned), but you'll have to look reeeeeeally hard.

Can you hike any of the points on the list posted? It looks like most of them are just in the middle of neighborhoods.

Vinings and Smyrna near Vinings itself (like Ridge Rd) is pretty hilly. The same ridge that houses Mt Wilkinson runs through the Southern part of the city and there are neighboring ridges that are almost equally tall. It isn't uncommon to have a home with a back deck looking over a 30 foot drop-off. Views of the ATL skyline are all over the place which is another plus, but chances are you'd have to walk from your home to a more cleared location since tall trees often block the skyline from view.

However, this is a very developed area, so it'd seem more like a cheaper version of the Hollywood Hills than a rustic mountain area.

Smyrna has the Silver Comet Trail which runs all the way to Alabama, though it is relatively flat until Cedartown since it's a former rail line. The Bob Callan Trail along the Chattahoochee (entry point on Cobb Parkway at the river) and the trail network it connects to through East Cobb and into Fulton County will seem more like a natural walking trail.

You must have some false impression of what Atlanta is like.

To add more specific details to MathmanMathman's statement: Metro Atlanta is at an approximately 1,000 foot elevation but varies quite a bit. It has rolling hills and is in the Piedmont region, which is a hilly plateau incorporating the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. It has a small river called the Chattahoochee which snakes through it and adds to the uneven terrain. It also has multiple small mountains. Undeveloped land tends to be forest, not farmland.
