"Can a computer program catch a bad guy before he even commits a crime?

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will soon see.

The transit agency has contracted with a Houston-based security firm to analyze its surveillance video using an artificial-intelligence-based software that “learns” to distinguish normal behavior from that which seems suspicious. and so it begins....a relatively safe transit system, with police on the platform of every station and on almost ever car, will now tell us in order to protect the safety of all individuals, we must record their daily interactions. I'd rather be a victim of a crime than have my life in the *clouds*, pun intended.

Sounds good to me. They have had camera's for a while, this can help make them more useful.

I don't see how it could determine the difference between suspicious behavior and a temporarily confused tourist.
