ATLANTA — Police say there has been a spike in crime in the Riverside community.

The trend started after police moved crime-fighting resources to address a crime wave on Huff Road.

Kendra Albers is just one of the people victimized in that sudden spike of crime in the Northwest Atlanta neighborhood. She says someone broke in and burglarized her home.

"It's not a good feeling," said Albers. "It's where you live. It's where you come home at night and sleep. Knowing that someone has been in your space is terrifying."

Police say at the end of August and into September, Zone 2 had an alarming increase in violent robberies and carjackings around the Huff Road area..."

That's crazy cause Zone 2 has always been known to be the safest zone and the Riverside Community to most has always been quiet or some never even heard of it because its peaceful

riverside has always been on edge, since it is right outside of zone 1 and just on the other side of the tracks from the old housing projects. combine that with the fact that it is not as tightly knit as whittier mill village, it is just so rural out there, hardly any businesses, and not right under the radar of the police.

i'm not saying that it is a bad neighbourhood, there are a lot of places in ATL that are a lot worse. i just kind of think it gets overlooked due to its location.

There was a carjacking and shooting on Dunseath last weekend in broad daylight. Never saw it in the news, and haven't seen any police presence since. It's like it never happened. Comforting indeed.
