We're new to the area and are looking for pest control companies. Pricing seems high at $90/quarter for general pest control plus another $300 per year for termites. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is this the typical pest control price for the area?

Thanks!

Those prices are in line with what we pay. I couldn't find any lower.

We've been happy with Inspect-All ($85 a quarter) for pest control and Arrow Sentricon System ($300 a year renewable bond) for temites.

I use Terminix now and they $120/quarter at the moment. I just got lazy and didn't feel like researching.

In the past, I found companies that definitely cost less yet were very good. I'm hoping this is the right site, but you can find licensed ones in your area here: Ag Inputs Division - Georgia Department of Agriculture. (I watched a news segment a few years back that convinced me that making sure they are on the list was a good idea - forgot exactly why but do remember it made sense at the time.)

I use Northwest Exterminating (Atlanta Pest & Termite Control, Wildlife Control, Lawn Care) and they charge me $55 per quarter and include "free" emergency visits. My termite bond is paid for by the HOA so I'm not sure what that is. I've used them for the past 12 years and have been very happy with their services. My price could be low since I've been with them so long...I'm not sure.

With a little research on the internet and e-commerce sites as well as some local do-it-yourself pest control stores, you can do the same exact job as an exterminator for a fraction of the price. And I mean a FRACTION. I bought a spray can for like $20 more than 3 years ago, and a $25 bottle of concentrated pesticide that is just now starting to run low.

If you have a complex problem or infestation, then by all means, call in the professionals. But basic creating a perimeter around your home is so easy that I'm amazed more people aren't doing it themselves.

For termites, ya gotta have a bond. The risk of not doing so is too great, but most people nowadays can easily handle their own pest control.

You can search for state certified companies here: Pesticide Applicator Licensing and Certification - Ga Dept of Agriculture.
