Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown did everything they could to NOT allow the event to happen, but the city granted the permit against their wishes.

That's not the real issue, and for the record, the tunnel will be shut down for 30 hours, not just an evening.

It is entirely clear. A street artist named Catlanta spearheaded the whitewashing.

That can't be answered until the party has come and gone. It remains to be seen how successful the party is, but one thing it did accomplish is that it removed the allure of the tunnel, which was the main draw for this event.

Haha. Now it's just another boring tunnel with nothing to look at. And people paid money to look at that which was free to look at all along. This is a fantastic protest right here, and obviously effective, considering the responses of people who are now grumpy about it.

Also, the artists have a blank canvas to start it all over again, after the yuppie fest is over.

The car lanes will be shut down. The sidewalk will be open.

Because the city will sell out its neighborhoods for next to nothing. Supposedly, the organizer used to work in the city event permitting office and knows exactly what, and exactly how little he has to do to get permits.
