Downtown needs residents. 3 residential towers- that's good news for Downtown.

My question is- who is Downtown going to cater to? I say it should cater more towards college students, millennials, artists, and blue collar folks than high end residents who are more likely to spurn Downtown in favor of Midtown or Buckhead.

I don't think Downtown should try to be Midtown or Buckhead. Bring in the young folks who like having fun- folks who will occupy the streets both during the day and at night.

I think individuals will choose where they want to live and developers will each make their own descsion who they want to market to.

I think people from all walks of life will call downtown home. And those make the best neighborhoods.

FYI...

The South Carolina developers who plan to remake Underground Atlanta want your two cents, Atlanta.

WRS Inc. representatives will attend a town-hall-style meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday called "Underground Atlanta: Up for Discussion," with topics covering design, retail, housing, transportation, parking and more. According to a promo: "Feedback and ideas that emerge from each discussion will help shape both the recommendations for Underground Atlanta's development and our community planning process for South Downtown."

I wonder what's changed? I hope it's putting something over some of that surface parking that they had originally planned on.

If anyone is going, could you bring up the Green Line plan and if it's still on the table? Maybe a bit about how the MARTA makovers are going? Though, neither one of these are directly related to Underground, they're both realitivly close.
