Third overall is the Sovereign. I like The Atlantic also. I never did like Georgia Pacific, Westin, or the At&t building much. I never liked flat top buildings unless they are particularly eye-catching like Sovereign. I tend to like rooftop ornamentation of some sort.

The one exception to this "rule" of my personal taste is the Mandarin Oriental in Buckhead. What do Atlantans think of this one? I've heard it isn't popular looks-wise. I must admit that when it was first opened I didn't like it either. But it has grown on me a lot. It's very sleek and stylish to me now.

Yes? No?

I don't like that building much. The top looks unfinished, like it needs more of a crown. When that building (formerly known as "the Mansion") was under construction, I worked in an adjacent building and I was really looking forward to seeing what it would look like when it was finished. I ended up being disappointed.

My favorites are the historic ones...Hurt, Flatiron, Healy, Candler, Georgian Terrace, The Ponce, etc. They aren't as prominent on the skyline but they are great from the street level. My modern favorite is probably 191 Peachtree.
Yeah, those classic buildings are great.

My other favorites in the city are 191 Peachtree downtown; also 1180 Peachtree in midtown, which was a nice change of pace from all the brown towers that dominated that area at the time.

Re: 191 Peachtree - One of my favorite things about that building is the lobby, with its high ceiling and huge arched windows.

Fun fact- the Westin Peachtree was in a Burt Reynolds movie.

191 Peachtree has one of the most impressive lobbies and the arches on top changing colors is a nice change.

Believe it or not that was the Hyatt Regency tower addition.

Pity. I didn't like it for the longest time but now I see the beauty of it. It truly grew on me.

The top crown is boring and looks unfinished.

It's definitely not an eyesore or anything - it just seems to me to lack some necessary "finishing touches."

I like 191 and One Atlantic. They both have a enduring architecture about them. It's also cool to go up in the downtown Westin - the view of the 191 crown is very neat from there.

The Symphony Tower (aka 1180 Peachtree) and One Atlantic Center (or the IBM Tower?)
