My wife just got a promotion and we are moving to the Marietta area (her work building is on Galleria Parkway.) We are going to rent either a house or an apartment until we can sell our current house and find a new one. Can anyone recommend a good real estate agent or a good apartment complex. Also any additional info on the area would be great, as to what areas to look to move, things to do etc. Thanks

Do you have kids, and if so, are they school aged? What kind of environment are you coming from (big city, suburban, rural) and what kind would you prefer?

I currently live in downtown Marietta, and lived for many years near the Galleria, in Smyrna / Vinings. I know both areas pretty well, and they both have good, but different, attributes, so it depends on what your priorities are.

If you want to be close to your wife's office, there are several apartment complexes along Cumberland Parkway and Spring Hill Parkway that would be extremely convenient. The Post chain of apartment complexes is particularly well regarded. Post Spring and Post Crest are both nearby and are relatively new. A bit further away, on Northside Parkway (continuation of Cobb Parkway / US 41 into the city of Atlanta) is Post Riverside, a pretty neat mixed use development with apartments. Many years ago, I lived in a complex where Mount Wilkinson Parkway runs into Spring Hill Parkway, and liked it, but I have no idea what it is like now.

If you prefer a walkable urban place with a good variety of restaurants, parks, bars, coffee shops, weekend farmer's markets, festivals and concerts, etc., the area around the Marietta Square offers all that and more. It's about a 15-20 minute drive (as little as 10 minutes on a good day) down US 41 or I-75 to the Galleria area during rush hour. It is a very historic area and is older than Cumberland so there are fewer large apartment complexes, but plenty of smaller buildings as well as rental townhouses, condos and regular houses. A realtor could be a real asset if you decide to settle here, but I am afraid I don't know any who specialize in this area, though I am sure you shouldn't have trouble finding one.

Certainly some areas within the City of Atlanta would also present reasonable commutes as you'd be going against traffic, but I know them less well than I do Smyrna/Vinings /Cumberland and Marietta.

Let me know if you have questions!

Would tend to stay away from any complex off of Hwy 41 or Franklin Rd., otherwise there are plenty of options to choose from in the area without too long of a commute to Galleria.

Only know these places from driving by, so can't highly recommend them as such, but may be helpful: Promove or Atlanta City Relo

All the best in your move.

I would look into ProMove on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna, which is nearby. They can tailor your search to your needs and hook you up with discounts/specials. They really helped me out many years ago. I got a place with my exact specifications.

What is your budget? There are some wonderful new apartment complexes in that area.

Also, the Galleria Parkway area is not typically considered Marietta. The actual city limits of Marietta are further north. There are large areas of unincorporated Cobb County that have a Marietta mailing address that are relatively close to the Galleria.

The Galleria is generally considered Vinings/Cumberland area - just search on zip code 30339. Smyrna is closer than Marietta.

There is a Promove office just 1/2 mile from the Galleria area off of Cobb Parkway - likely a Smyrna address.

Thus is a great suggestion. It is much easier and more efficient to have an agency do your search. I have not looked in the area around the Galleria in a couple of years. Things could be different now because that is where they are building the new stadium near there. If I just had to dive into it without much notice, I'd still go for something in Vinings proper ITP. Some of the ones OTP are a little sketvhy but not all of them. I counsider places on Cumberland Pkwy, Akers Mill, and Spring Hill.

The entire area is pretty decent so it's hard to go wayyyy wrong though some places are a no go. I get the feeling you'll know them on site.
