Someone noticed a huge "coming soon" sign that had just gone up on the vacant block behind Backstreet, between Juniper and Piedmont bounded by 6th and 7th.

"Brand New luxury townhouses starting in the $200,000s!"

I remember the next words that came out of my mouth like it was yesterday:

"Who the hell is gonna pay $200,000 to live across the street from a 24 hour gay club?!"

Backstreet has been closed for 10 years now... And the rest, as they say, is history.
Those were the days when Atlanta was REALLY fun!EVERYBODY went to Backstreet after all the other closed and it was just as you described.

Rember the pimps and the transvestite prostitutes hanging out on Peachtree Street ?LOL
They used to call to me from the street in the car while I tried my best to ignore them!LOL

Those were the days......lol

I was friends with two people who stripped at there who also were gay. They said that stuff goes down in the back rooms (VIP rooms) and it is basically expected, and most will hustle on the side with their regulars.

I'm acquainted with one of the owners of SR. He doesn't like his boys referrred to as 'strippers'; he prefers 'dancers'. After all, they're already naked when they mount the stage.

They're only naked by the third song; first song clothed and second song down to underwear. So I've been told anyway...

BTW, I almost had a heart attack when I read the title of this thread. Y'all don't play with my heart. I'm getting old...

I've "heard" the same thing ericsonga...they don't start out naked.

How long can it stay there though? Especially with whole Westside WaterWorks revitalization in progress. That's valuable land.
