Hello all...I am a single mother of 2..Boys 16 and 3....I currently employed at Hopkins for 17 yrs. I have worked my way through several jobs at HopkIns over the years.. I am currently a patient care Tech..May consider pursuing my RN...I make 43k a yr...I Would love to relocate to Atl..I have done some research....I plan to talk to a few friends who already live there...I have been there several times in the past few yrs...But I wanted to come to this thread this site seems very informative...Any pointers from anyone.... Jobs at hospitals are they plentiful..And most importantly... The cost of living is it really that much cheaper than Md?

We came from VA. I can tell you that cost of living is way cheaper here. There's something called "Cost of Living" calculators online. Just Google them. Put in your town, state and the new town and state and it will tell you if you need to make more or could take a pay cut without hurting. It's a great place to start.

I do know there's a lot of healthcare in Atlanta.

Also, just an FYI, but a company called Bon Secours in Richmond, VA is looking for nurses. They even have a program that pays for you to go through their nursing school as long as you'll work for them after. They're a five state health care. Richmond is cheaper than MD too.
